Soaring at KFS
Kendallville Flying Service is a Business Member for the Soaring Society of America and is
dedicated to promoting the sport of soaring in Northeastern Indiana.
Highly experienced FAA Licensed Glider Instructors and Tow Pilots are committed to making your
flights a safe and enjoyable experience. They will explain the instruments and controls prior
to your flight and answer any questions you may have. You may want to jest relax and take
in the silent beauty of soaring, or you may want to take the controls, with your pilot standing by,
to see how easy it is to fly the glider. It is your choice!
Soaring conditions vary from day-to-day and from hour-to-hour. Rides are based on tow height.
We will do our best to keep you flying for a reasonable time, but sometimes nature wins. Typical
ride times depending on conditions are….
Roadrunner………3 to 5 minutes
Hawk…………..…..15-20 minutes
Falcon………….….20-40 minutes
Eagle……………....40-60 minutes
The Sailplane used for rides is the Schweizer SGS 2-33 manufactured in Elmira, New York. It is
the most popular American made sailplane and is used extensively for rides and instruction. We
believe you will agree it is a fun way to see the countryside. Bring some friends and the video
camera and try it this weekend!!
